IPS Model

Integrated Prioritization System Model

The Lower Des Plaines Watershed Group will be using the Integrated Prioritization System Model to help assess tributary stream segments against stressor benchmarks and help identify and prioritize segments of streams that would benefit most from restoration projects or BMP implementation. The first round of sampling on tributary sites was started in 2020 in the Hickory Creek Watershed. We will share results of the IPS Model as part of the Bioassessment Report for Hickory Creek, which is currently underway.

Since the IPS Model was developed for tributary streams with a drainage area of less than 350 square miles, the model will not be used on the Des Plaines River itself. Click here more information on how the IPS Model works.
